Open Health Stack
App Launch Marketing

My role
Animation
The brief
Open Health Stack is Google's suite of open-source tools that help developers build health apps for places around the world with limited resources. For the program's launch, Google asked Hook to create a set of animated illustrations to live on the app and a Google blog post introducing the platform.

The insight & idea
The illustrations were already doing a lot of work to make the technical subject matter feel warm and human-centered. The opportunity with animation was to take that a step further: add movement that felt deliberate and alive, give the characters personality, and create an added layer of storytelling.
And character animation is its own discipline within motion design — it requires a different sensibility than animating UI or abstract shapes, so getting these to feel like a cohesive set required keeping the big-picture goal in mind and developing these in tandem.
